Although heel pain is commonly associated with middle aged men and women, children can suffer heel pain.

As your children grow you may notice them commenting on having heel pain, particularly around the ages of 8-14. Calcaneal apophysitis (commonly known as ‘Sever’s Disease’) is often characterised by complaints of a painful heel with or without a limp and can be worse after being active or playing sport.

Treatment of this condition can include stretching, footwear changes and orthotic therapy. Being assessed by one of our podiatrists will determine the best treatment options for your child and their specific situation.

If you are concerned about your child’s feet, make an appointment with a podiatrist.
